Football Begins Spring Drills on March 28

The East Tennessee State football program will begin its spring season on Wednesday, March 28 with an afternoon practice.

Fourth-year head coach Paul Hamilton and his staff face many challenges this spring in preparing the Bucs for the 2001 season. ETSU has lost four starters on offense and six on defense from last year's 6-5 squad.

The main objective of this spring season is to polish those players that will see extended playing time next year. One of the most pressing concerns is at quarterback. The graduation of the Southern Conference's all-time total offense leader, Todd Wells, leaves a large question mark at the helm of the offense.

The Bucs will practice on the outdoor practice facilities every Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday through April 14. They will practice Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday during the final week.

The spring season will culminate with the spring game on Saturday, April 21.
