Total of 26 players from Tennessee highlight 45-person class that includes recruits from seven other states

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 4, 2015) – ETSU head football coach Carl Torbush announced the program’s second recruiting class during a special National Signing Day event Wednesday inside the Carnegie Hotel’s Grand Soldiers Ballroom.

The overall class includes 45 commitments – 26 of whom are from the state of Tennessee – along with other players from Florida, Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Ohio. In addition, 70 percent of the class have a high school grade point average of 3.0 or better, and over 60 percent of the group earned all-state honors on the field.

Torbush said he was extremely pleased with the work of his assistant coaching staff and thankful for the support of others who helped make this recruiting class so successful.

“As we move closer to our opening game on Sept. 3, 2015 against Kennesaw State, today’s announcement of our second recruiting class marks an exciting time for Buccaneer football,” Torbush said. “Today we welcome 45 new recruits to our program. This group will join our inaugural class of players from 2014, as we continue to build a firm football foundation that will bring pride to our proud institution.

“We could not have accomplished this without the help of many people, and I want to thank our ETSU faculty and administration, our academic staff, Aramark personnel, the housing office, our current players, baseball program, our chapel service leader, the Carnegie Hotel, and Bristol Motor Speedway for all they have done to help us with our recruiting process.”

This second recruiting class will join the 2014 class, which has spent this school year practicing, scrimmaging and working out in preparation for the upcoming inaugural season. ETSU’s first game against Kennesaw State is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015.
