JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 20, 2015) – Due to the inclement weather this week, the ETSU football program has adjusted its plans for student tryouts.

At this time, students wishing to try out for the team are asked to read the following information, complete any paperwork requested, and make plans to either e-mail the football program at [email protected] or come by the office at the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center to ask questions about the process.

The next meeting regarding tryouts will take place at 3:30 p.m. on March 2 in the stands located inside the Dome. This meeting will be the deadline to have all completed materials into ETSU athletic training.

In order to be eligible to tryout, the following must apply or be submitted:

  • Full-time student currently enrolled at ETSU
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must have passed an average of 12 credit hours per semester
  • Letter of recommendation from high school coach
  • Letter of recommendation from high school teacher/counselor/someone off-field away from football
  • Highlight tape
  • Medical information completed (click here for those forms in PDF format)

There will be no exceptions to the standards above. All paperwork must be turned in on this date, because plans are to begin tryouts the following day on March 3.

Once again, any students with questions regarding this process are encouraged to e-mail the football program at [email protected] or stop by to talk with coaches at the offices located on the west side of the ETSU/MSHA Athletic Center.
