JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 2, 2015) – For many fans of ETSU athletics, the 1969 football season is considered the greatest in school history because of the Buccaneers’ Ohio Valley Championship and their victory over Louisiana Tech, which was led by future NFL Hall of Famer and four-time Super Bowl champion Terry Bradshaw.

As ETSU football nears a renewed era with the kickoff of the 2015 season, members of that 1969 team gathered on campus earlier this year to watch the original televised game broadcast of the Grantland Rice Bowl, which was produced and aired nationally on ABC.

On hand to participate in the viewing were former center John Walton (No. 50), offensive tackle Charlie Jordan (No. 52), wide receiver Pat Hauser (No. 21), tight end Ron Causey (No. 80), offensive tackle Mike Sivert (No. 71), defensive lineman Butch Buchanan (No. 65), and athletic trainer Jerry Robertson.

Sharing recollections and stories from the day of the game, members of the group also brought back to campus memorabilia from the season, including a game-worn helmet and the NCAA championship trophy.

This was a unique opportunity and the first time that members of the team have had their memories preserved for future generations on film.
