JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 13, 2015) – The ETSU football team wrapped up its eighth straight preseason practice on Thursday afternoon outside on the CPA practice fields.
Despite getting off to a slow start, the Buccaneers picked up the pace towards the end of practice, and head coach Carl Torbush rewarded the team by not going through post-practice conditioning.
“We didn’t want to run them at the end of practice, because we want the guys to have fresh legs for our scrimmage on Saturday night,” said Torbush. “I thought they got after each other pretty good the last six periods today. Things started off a little bit slow, but the last six-to-eight periods went really well.”
Overall, coach is pleased with the progress his team is making after practicing for eight consecutive days.
“We have pushed them really hard the first eight days,” added Torbush. “We haven’t taken any time off so far and we are working right through it.”
When asked about Saturday’s scrimmage at Kermit Tipton Stadium, Coach Torbush is eager to see what the guys can do under pressure.
“I am excited to see what they are going to do on Saturday,” Torbush said. “It’ll be interesting to see who makes plays when there’s pressure on them. We need to make sure that we do as much as we can in this first scrimmage, so if we make any mistakes, we can get those corrected before the next one.”
The Bucs will hold a walk through on Friday morning inside the Dome at 10 a.m., before holding Media Day from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Media Day will also be held inside the Dome.
Following today’s practice the Buccaneer Sports Network caught up coach Mike Rader to get his thoughts on the wide receivers.
