Children 12 and under receive free admission when wearing team youth jersey

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 2, 2015) – The ETSU football team returns to action this weekend when the Buccaneers host Saint Francis (Pa.) Saturday afternoon at Kermit Tipton Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.

Just Jump! of Johnson City is sponsoring a youth promotion. All kids 12 and under wearing their jersey or uniform will get free admission to the game, accompanying adults will receive a $10 ticket. In addition, men’s basketball will host an open practice inside Freedom Hall from 10 to 11 a.m. This is a free event.

The ETSU (0-4) football team held a four-point lead with less than three minutes remaining in the fourth quarter, but Emory & Henry made a game-changing defensive stop on 4th-and-1 at midfield and scored the go-ahead touchdown on the ensuing drive to rally past the Bucs, 27-24, last Saturday at Kermit Tipton Stadium … The Blue and Gold jumped out to a 14-0 lead thanks to a pair of touchdown runs by Jajuan Stinson (Knoxville, Tenn.); however, the Wasps answered with a pair of touchdown drives to pull even at 14 … Red-shirt sophomore Dalton Ponchillia (Nashville, Tenn.) – who scored ETSU’s final touchdown on a 45-yard pass from Austin Herink (Cleveland, Tenn.) early in the fourth quarter – led all players with a season-high 117 receiving yards … Herink took all the snaps for the first time this season and went 17-for-28 with 261 yards, one touchdown and threw his first interception of the year in ETSU’s opening drive of the second half … Herink and Ponchillia also connected on a 56-yard pass play (longest play of the year), which set up Stinson’s second touchdown run in the first quarter … Defensively, linebacker Dylan Weigel (Pickerington, Ohio) totaled a season-high 20 tackles, tying him for the second-most by a Buccaneer in single-game history … Weigel, who leads the Blue and Gold with 51 tackles on the season, also registered a two tackles for loss against Emory & Henry … Linebacker River Boruff (Sparta, Tenn.) and defensive lineman Chris Bouyer (Rock Hill, S.C.) combined for the Bucs’ sack against the Wasps … As a team, seven different running backs accounted for ETSU’s 108 rushing yards, while nine different receivers caught a pass en route to the 261 passing yards.

Dylan Weigel ranks second in the FCS in solo tackles (8.3 per game), sixth in total tackles (12.8 per game), and 17th in fumble recoveries (1)

Austin Herink ranks 13th in completion percentage (66.7), 46th in passing efficiency (133.9) and 47th in yards per pass attempt (7.3)

Domenique Williams (Charlotte, N.C.) is 11th in combined kick returns (327) and 55th in kick return average (21.8)

Dalton Ponchillia ranks 30th in yards per reception (19.2), while JJ Jerman (Seymour, Tenn.) is 24th in field goal percentage (80.0) and 34th in field goals per game (1.0)

As a team, the Bucs lead the FCS in fewest penalty yards per game (21.0), rank second in fewest penalties per game (3.25), fifth in fewest penalty yards (84), 25th in red zone offense (91.7), 30th in time of possession (32:20), and 32nd in third down conversion percentage (43.5).

Saint Francis (1-2) is coming off a 78-0 win over University of Faith last weekend at home … The game was considered an exhibition game due to University of Faith being placed on the NCAA’s non-countable opponents … The Red Flash are led by the running back tandem of Khairi Dickson and Marcus Bagley … Dickson, the FCS leading rusher in 2014 and Northeast Conference Offensive Player of the Year, has seen limited action in the first four games this season, while Bagley, the NEC’s Offensive Rookie of the Year, has rushed for 221 yards on 50 carries this season … Last year, Dickson rushed for over 1,700 yards and finished with 12 touchdowns, and was named FCS All-America (Third Team) … Junior safety Lorenzo Jerome is tied for the team lead in tackles (27) and leads Saint Francis in solos (15) … In addition to his 70-yard interception return against Towson, Jerome also recorded a 99-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the same game … Jerome ranks ninth in all FCS in combined return yards (338) and 25th in all-purpose yards (136.0) … Like Dickson, Jerome, Zack Drayer (quarterback/punter), Anthony Abeid (wide receiver), Jimmy Marks (offensive lineman), and kicker Lance Geesey also received preseason All-American honors … As a team, the Red Flash lead the NEC in pass defense (185.3), kick return average (24.6), and red zone offense (100.0/9-of-9), while ranking third in scoring offense (23.7) and total defense (366.7).
