JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (July 17, 2018) – As ETSU football approaches kickoff for the 2018 campaign, ETSUBucs.com will count down the days by featuring the program’s 21 seniors on the site and via social media throughout the summer months.
Today marks 46 days until the Buccaneers open the season against Mars Hill on Saturday, Sept. 1 at William B. Greene, Jr. Stadium. Senior kicker/punter and No. 46 Marion Watson (Waxhaw, N.C.) is the 12th player to be featured in this special segment.
Watson, who has played in 32 of the possible 33 games since the program restarted in 2015, has totaled 167 punts for 6,276 yards over his career. The Waxhaw, N.C. native appeared in all 11 games for the Blue and Gold last season and ranked sixth in the SoCon in yards punted (2,358) and seventh in average (40.7). The SoCon Honor Roll member landed 17 punts inside the 20, had eight punts of over 50 yards and 20 punts led to fair catches in 2017. Watson’s longest punt of his career (59 yards) came in the 2015 win over Warner.

Along with a six-game home schedule that features matchups with Mars Hill (Sept. 1), Furman (Sept. 22), Chattanooga (Sept. 29), Gardener-Webb (Oct. 6), Western Carolina (Oct. 27) and Samford (Nov. 17), the Bucs will also hit the road for the program’s first-ever trip to Neyland Stadium to take on Tennessee on Sept. 8.
