Buccaneers will open 2019 season at Appalachian State

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 3, 2019) – As ETSU anticipates the kickoff of the new campaign, will count down the days by featuring the program’s 15 seniors on the site and via social media platforms throughout the summer months.

Today marks 89 days until the Bucs open the season at Appalachian State on Aug. 31 at Kidd Brewer Stadium in Boone, N.C. Redshirt-senior wide receiver No. 89 Anthony Spagnoletti (Bealeton, Va.) is the third player to be featured in the Senior Segment.

Spagnoletti is entering his final season with the Bucs, having played in 34 games with 12 starts in this first three seasons. After redshirting his freshman season, Spagnoletti has played in every game for the Blue & Gold. In 2018, Spagnoletti played in all 12 games with nine starts, finishing the campaign with a career-high 22 catches for 267 yards. The Virginia native tallied a career-best five receptions against The Citadel (Oct. 13) and Wofford (Oct. 20). Spagnoletti collected a career-high 72 yards against Furman on Sept. 22, including a personal-best, 54-yard reception that set up a crucial touchdown in the come-from-behind victory over the Paladins. During his career, the wideout has accumulated 34 receptions for 492 yards and one touchdown, averaging 14.5 yards per catch. Spagnoletti’s lone touchdown reception came in the season opener against Limestone in 2017, a 45-yard touchdown catch.

Greene, Jr. Stadium for three consecutive home games against Shorter (Sept. 7), VMI (Sept. 14) and Austin Peay (Sept. 21). The six-game home schedule features four Southern Conference foes in VMI (Sept. 14), Wofford (Oct. 5), The Citadel (Nov. 2) and Mercer (Nov. 16).
