CLEVELAND, Ohio (July 24, 2020) – The ETSU Football team saw seven players lay claim to nine Phil Steele Preseason All-SoCon slots as announced on Friday afternoon by Phil Steele Magazine. In addition to the Preseason All-SoCon selections, Quay Holmes (Powder Springs, Ga.) was selected as a Preseason First Team All-Purpose All-American.
ETSU was led in selections by Holmes who was tabbed to three different positions on two teams, including First Team for all-purpose yards and Second Team for both running back and kick return specialist. Joining Holmes on the First Team is senior defensive back Tyree Robinson (Gainesville, Ga.) and redshirt-junior offensive lineman Tre’mond Shorts (Hampton, Ga.).
Holmes also accounted for two of the five spots on the Preseason All-SoCon Second Team for the Bucs. The Georgia running back is accompanied by junior tight end Nate Adkins (Knoxville, Tenn.), redshirt-senior linebacker Blake Bockrath (Loveland, Ohio) and sophomore kicker Tyler Keltner (Tallahassee, Fla.).
The final honoree for the Bucs belongs to sophomore punter Garrett Taylor (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) who was named to the Phil Steele Preseason All-SoCon Third Team.
