Ryan Becker was added to the Buccaneer coaching staff in the spring of 2018. Becker will be in charge of coaching the tight ends.

Becker comes to ETSU after spending the past season working as an assistant director of football operations/director of player personnel and recruiting at the University of Pennsylvania, his alma mater. This past season, Penn had 14 players earn all-conference honors, while wide receiver Justin Watson – who was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers – earned all-American honors and was named a finalist for the Walter Payton Award. Becker’s duties also included assisting with the offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach, while creating weekly game plans and being responsible for film breakdown.

Prior to his time at Penn, Becker worked with Coach Sanders and Coach Matt McCutchan at Florida State as an offensive quality control coach and graduate assistant. At Florida State, Becker primarily worked with the offensive line and quarterbacks, while also helping with game planning, running the defensive scout team, as well as assisting with scouting reports and recruiting. Becker coached in the 2015 Rose Bowl (College Football Playoff Game), 2015 Peach Bowl and 2016 Orange Bowl.

As a player, Becker spent the 2009 season at Florida State where the Seminoles won the Gator Bowl, while he then transferred and completed his playing career at Pennsylvania. Becker, played quarterback at Penn from 2010-13, helped guide the Quakers to a pair of Ivy League championships in 2010 and 2012. In 25 career games, Becker threw for over 1,600 passing years and totaled 10 passing touchdowns.

Becker received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Economics – Management and Legal Studies & Business Ethics Concentrations – from University of Pennsylvania – while earning a Master’s in Sport Management from Florida State University. Becker won state championships and one national championship at Saint Thomas Aquinas High School (Florida).
