Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State sophomore Ryan Lawson netted 19 points to lead the Bucs in a 64-51 Southern Conference win against Davidson at Memorial Center.

Lawson went 4-of-5 from behind the arc to tie a career high for treys in a game. He has equaled that mark in each of the last three contests. The Rogersville, Tenn. native, has led the team in scoring in each of those contests.

For the first time this season two Buccaneers recorded double-doubles. Senior forwards Renaldo Johnson (14 points, 12 rebounds) and Adrian Meeks (11 points, 11 rebounds) dominated inside against a taller Wildcat squad.

ETSU won the game on the boards, outrebounding Davidson 45-30. ETSU gathered 17 offensive rebounds, led by Meeks' seven.

The Bucs jumped out to an early lead, outscoring the visitors 15-2 in the first five minutes. Davidson fought back and closed within three points, 24-21, on a Wayne Bernard free throw at 2:41 of the opening stanza. The Bucs scored the next nine points and as the halftime buzzer sounded, senior D.J. McDuffie drained a baseline jumper to give ETSU a 32-21 lead at the break.

The second half was a back-and-forth affair with Davidson closing to 46-44 at 9:58. ETSU closed the game on a 18-7 run. The Bucs made six of their last seven free throws

Lawson scored 14 of his 19 in the second half to secure the win.

Davidson was led by Peter Anderer's 12 points, all on three-pointers. Michael Bree added 10 for the visitors while center Martin Ides had nine points and seven boards.

The Bucs return to action at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 21 when they host VMI in their final home game of the 2000-01 season. Davidson will host The Citadel at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 19.
