JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Adrian Meeks and D.J. McDuffie scored 12 points each to lead East Tennessee to a 66-47 victory over Furman on Saturday afternoon.
East Tennessee (10-7, 5-1 Southern Conference) held Furman (7-8, 2-4) to just 15 points in the first half, as the Paladins shot only 25 percent from the field before the break.
The Buccaneers never trailed, jumping out to a 16-3 start. The opening run was capped with a free throw by Meeks at 12:59.
Furman didn't get into double digits until almost 14 minutes into the half. A 3-pointer by Guilherme Da Luz made the score 22-12.
Furman got as close as 12, 42-30, on a layup by Karim Souchu at 12:28.
Jerald Fields capped double digit scoring for the Buccaneers with 10 points.
Da Luz and Souchu led scoring for the Paladins with 13 points each.
