ETSU Falls To VCU, 63-53

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 22) -- Virginia Commonwealth's Bo Jones scored 19 points, including 8-for-8 from the free throw line, to lead the Rams in a 63-53 win against East Tennessee State at ETSU's Memorial Center.

East Tennessee State's Dimeco Childress scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds in defeat. The Bucs' Adrian Meeks was the game's other double-digit scorer, notching 10 points.

Neither team shot well, the Bucs hitting 31.7 percent (19-of-60) while the Rams made 38.0 percent (19-of-50). It was the visitor's foul shooting, (20-of-28, 71.4 percent) that secured the win.

VCU (2-1) opened with the inside game, taking a 13-8 lead on a layup by Konstantin Nesterov at 12:01 of the first half. ETSU (1-2) fought back and took a three-point lead, 16-13, on a jumper from Childress at 7:30 of the first half. It was the only time all game the home squad would lead.

The Rams ended the half on a 14-6 run to finish the first half ahead 27-22.

When Domonic Jones nailed two free throws at 10:21 of the second half the Rams had their biggest lead of the night, 42-30. The Bucs closed to six, 47-41, with a Meeks'; free throw at 4:00 but could not get any closer.

The VCU bench outscored ETSU's 19-7.

The Bucs return to action at 7 p.m. (eastern) on Friday, November 24 when they travel to Nashville and face Vanderbilt.
