In the final tally, fans chose three players from the most successful era in ETSU basketball history, one from the most recent run of Buccaneer success on the hardwood, and one from an era before the 3-point line even existed. The players chosen include Keith "Mister"
The group consists of five players that are ranked in the Top 7 all-time in scoring, as well as the program's all-time leaders in assists, points per game, free throw percentage, 3-point field goals made, free throws made, steals and blocks. For more on each player see below:
Greg Dennis, 1987-92
2,204 points (2nd), 895 rebounds (2nd), 174 blocks (2nd)
Keith "Mister"
1,988 points (3rd), 983 assists (1st), 334 steals (1st)
Tom Chilton, 1959-61
1,801 points (5th), 26.10 points per game (1st)
Zakee Wadood, 2000-2004
1,382 points (7th), 822 rebounds (4th), 182 blocks (1st), 246 steals (3rd)
Calvin Talford, 1988-92
1,872 points (4th), 661 field goals made (3rd), 79% free throw percentage (6th)
During the upcoming men's basketball season, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, the Pirate Club Scholarship Fund, and Phil Bachman Toyota/Scion have teamed up to honor these Top 5 players with special lapel pins. Each pin will be made to look like the replica jerseys for each player, and the first 2,000 fans to arrive for five selected home matchups will receive a different pin each game. The first player to be honored will be Calvin Talford on Nov. 15.
