JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 14, 2019) -- Following a three-game road trip, the ETSU men’s basketball team returns home to take on Milligan in a Sunday matinee inside Freedom Hall. Game time is set for 2 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bucs had their five-game win streak snapped last Saturday night as ETSU suffered a 78-68 setback at North Dakota State inside the Scheels Center.
Bo Hodges scored a season-high 23 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while grabbing nine rebounds … This marked Hodges’ second game this season of scoring over 20 points and the fifth of his career.
Tray Boyd III extended his streak of making at least one three-pointer to 17 straight games … Boyd scored 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting (2-of-4 from beyond the arc) … Boyd has made at least one three-pointer in 37 of his 44 games over his ETSU career.
Bo Hodges, Tray Boyd III and Daivien Williamson combined for 57 points on 20-of-35 shooting.
In his last three games, Daivien Williamson has gone 11-of-11 at the free throw line … Williamson is averaging 17.3 points, while shooting 52 percent (16-31) from the field and 64 percent from beyond the arc (9-14) during this stretch.
This marked ETSU’s first-ever game played in North Dakota as the Bucs and Bison capped off a home-and-home series, which started last season with ETSU winning 79-61.
The Bucs return to Freedom Hall following a 20-day hiatus which sent the Blue and Gold on a three-game road swing to Little Rock, Ark., Charleston, S.C. and Fargo, N.D. … During the trip, ETSU covered over 4,700 miles where the Bucs won two of their three games … This marks ETSU’s first home game since Nov. 26 when the Bucs defeated Appalachian State, 78-69.
HOME SWEET HOME
ETSU has gone 56-11 (.836) inside Freedom Hall in the Coach Forbes era, including a 13-3 mark last season and 5-0 record this year.
BUCCANEERS AT HOME
In their five home games this season, ETSU is holding the opposition to 60.2 points and limiting them to a 31.0 shooting percentage from beyond the arc (29-95) … The Bucs also have a plus-2.6 turnover margin as the Blue and Gold are only averaging 12.8 turnovers with the opposition turning the ball over 15.4 times per game … ETSU is also averaging 6.0 blocks per game … Individually, Tray Boyd III is averaging 15.2 points, while shooting 48 percent from the field (25-52), 46 percent from beyond the arc (15-33) and is 11-of-11 at the free throw line … Bo Hodges is posting 14.4 points per game in the five home contests this season, while adding 5.8 rebounds and donning a 58 percent shooting clip (28-48) … Hodges and Boyd make up 38 percent of the Bucs’ scoring at home as they have accounted for 148 of ETSU’s 386 points.
MORE ON THE HOME DOMINANCE
The Bucs never trailed in their game versus Southern Utah on Nov. 24, while ETSU led for 76 minutes and 46 seconds of the possible 80 minutes in the two games that weekend in the Maui Invitational Mainland … In the Bucs’ five home games this season, ETSU has led in 188 minutes and 07 seconds of the possible 200 minutes, which equates to 94% of the game.
13 STRAIGHT WINS OVER IN-STATE FOES
The Bucs have won their last 13 games against teams from the Volunteer state with an average win margin of 22 points per game ... ETSU’s last loss vs. an in-state team was on Dec. 22, 2016 vs Tennessee (72-68).
WINS COMPARED TO IN-STATE RIVALS OVER LAST FOUR YEARS
Since the start of the 2015-16 season, ETSU’s 108 victories are the most by any Division I team in the state, including Belmont (101), MTSU (96), Tennessee (95), Memphis (89), Lipscomb (89), Chattanooga (76), Austin Peay (74), UT-Martin (67), Tennessee State (67), Vanderbilt (65) and Tennessee Tech (61).
BOYD’S HEATING UP
As the temperatures have begun to drop outside, senior guard Tray Boyd III has been heating things up on the hardwood over the last four contests … Over the last four games, Boyd is averaging 17.5 points, while shooting 53 percent from the field (26-49) and 52 percent from beyond the arc (12-23) … Overall, Boyd has scored 70 points during this stretch … Meanwhile, in his first six games, Boyd totaled 71 points (11.8 ppg), along with shooting 42 percent (24-57) from the field and 40.5 percent from beyond the arc (15-37).
When it comes to junior guard Bo Hodges, he has continued to fill up the stat sheet for the Blue and Gold in 2019-2020 … Through 10 games, Hodges is averaging 14.4 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.0 blocks … Hodges has scored in double figures seven times this season and has compiled two 20-plus scoring games … Hodges ranks ninth in the SoCon in scoring and rebounding and is tied for sixth in blocked shots.
WILLIAMSON’S LAST THREE
Over his last three games, sophomore guard Daivien Williamson is posting 17.3 points per game, while shooting 52 percent from the field (16-31) and 64 percent from beyond the arc (9-14) … Williamson, who has scored in double figures in all three contests, is 11-for-11 at the free throw line during this run.
Milligan, who plays at Point on Saturday, has won back-to-back games and sit at 5-5 on the season.
Four of the Buffs’ wins have been by double digits, including their last two by an average of 18.5 points … Milligan is averaging 82 points in its last two games and 74.4 points in the wins … The Buffs are averaging 67.3 points per game in their losses.
The Buffs are coming off an 84-69 win over Bryan College last Saturday where senior Bo Pless scored a career-high 20 points … Freshmen Micah Paulk netted a career-high 18 points and Matt Cole grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds.
Four players are scoring in double figures with Tyler Nichols averaging a team-best 16.1 points, Jacob Cawood (13.7), Desean Green (11.4) and Pless (10.8) … Green is also averaging 7.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists.
As a team, Milligan is averaging 72.2 points per game and allowing 70.0 points.
Sunday marks the 50th all-time meeting between the two programs with ETSU leading the series, 33-16 … The Bucs have won six straight and 27 of the last 30 against Milligan … Sunday marks the first meeting since Dec. 10, 2015 when ETSU won 98-47 inside Freedom Hall … The first-ever meeting was played during the 1921-22 season when Milligan won 49-18 … The Buffs won the first three games of the series before ETSU claimed its first victory with a 29-13 win in the 1922-23 season … The teams met at least once for 13 straight seasons from 1947-48 – 1959-60 with the Bucs going 22-6 during that stretch … Despite less than five miles separating the campuses, the programs then didn’t play again for 46 seasons until the series restarted on Dec. 9, 2006 when ETSU won 73-47 … Since the series picked back up, the teams have met five times with the Bucs winning on average of over 42 points per game – outscoring Milligan, 90.2-47.6.
