Fans are encouraged to bring toys to women’s basketball on Friday, men’s basketball Saturday; Toys to be donated to Niswonger Children’s Hospital

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Dec. 8, 2021) – The East Tennessee State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is holding a Holiday Toy Drive at this weekend’s men’s and women’s basketball home games.

ETSU Athletic staff members will have boxes located at the main entrances of Brooks Gym and Freedom Hall where fans can drop off the toys prior to the start of each game. The toys do not have to be wrapped and will then be donated to the Niswonger Children’s Hospital.

The women host UNC Asheville Friday night at 6 p.m. inside Brooks Gym, while the men take on Morehead State Saturday at 4 p.m. in Freedom Hall.

“We are excited to hold the Holiday Toy Drive this weekend at both basketball games,” said ETSU’s Director of External of Operations and Equity & Inclusion, Calvin Claggett. “Throughout the year we always strive to give back to the region and this is one way to help provide some holiday cheer for those in need.”

For those who cannot attend either game this weekend and still want to participate in the Holiday Toy Drive, please contact Calvin Claggett at 423-439-5286 or via email at [email protected] .
