Teachers receive free admission

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Jan. 21, 2022) – ETSU men’s basketball continues its homestand Saturday evening when the Buccaneers host The Citadel at 4 p.m. inside Freedom Hall.


Saturday is Teacher Appreciation Day inside Freedom Hall … Teachers who show a valid ID at the gate receive free admission.


  • ETSU opened its three-game homestand with a 72-64 comeback win over Mercer on Wednesday night.
  • The Bucs improved to 12-8 overall and 4-3 in league play following the win against the Bears.
  • Wednesday marked the fifth time this season the Blue and Gold rallied back from a second-half deficit … ETSU trailed by as many as seven in the second half against the Bears and used a 15-4 closing run to secure the home victory.
  • David Sloan (Louisville, Ky.) posted his fifth 20-plus scoring game of the season as he led all players with 23 points, seven assists and zero turnovers … Sloan has led the Bucs in scoring eight times this season where ETSU is 6-2 when leading the scoring charge.
  • Ty Brewer is closing in on the 1,000-point mark as he’s 18 points shy of the historic milestone … Brewer has played in 102 games, netting 982 points … Brewer scored 563 points in 57 games at Southeastern Louisiana, while totaling 419 points in 45 games in the Blue and Gold.
  • ETSU is 4-3 in SoCon play through its first seven games … The Bucs lead the SoCon in three-point field goal defense (.289) … Individually, David Sloan ranks seventh in scoring (15.9), sixth in field goal percentage (.500), first in assists (5.6), second in steals (2.4), 10th in 3-point field goal percentage (.441) and seventh in assist/turnover ratio (2.1) … Ty Brewer ranks fifth in rebounding (7.1), third in offensive rebounds (2.3), is tied for sixth in blocks (0.9), and 10th in defensive rebounds (4.9) … Jaden Seymour ranks sixth in blocked shots (1.0), and ninth in offensive rebounds (1.7) and free throw percentage (.818) … Ledarrius Brewer is tied for seventh in 3-point field goals made per game (2.6) … Mohab Yasser is second in offensive rebounds (2.4).
  • Through ETSU’s first 20 games, 10 games have been decided by eight points or less and six by three points or less … The Bucs are 8-2 in those eight games decided by eight points or less and 4-2 in the five six decided by three points or less.
  • Since Feb. 16, 1987 in a game against Davidson, the Bucs have made at least one 3-pointer in 1,080 consecutive games ... ETSU was 0-for-8 in that 1987 game ... The Bucs currently rank as the fourth-longest streak in the NCAA, with UNLV topping the list with 1,147 games. 


  • The Bulldogs have dropped three straight and enter Johnson City with an overall record of 7-10 and a 1-5 mark in conference action.
  • The Citadel is led by SoCon Preseason Player of the Year selection Hayden Brown … Brown is averaging 17.8 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists … Brown is shooting 50 percent from the field.
  • Brown has scored 1,142 career points and grabbed 602 career rebounds.
  • Jason Roche leads the team with 64 made threes and is shooting 90 percent at the free throw line, while averaging 13.8 points per game … Roche ranks seventh nationally in made threes and three-point attempts (152), and eighth in three-point field goals per game (3.8).
  • As a team, the Bulldogs are averaging just under 80 points per game (79.9), but are allowing 75.4 … The Citadel is posting 10.9 made threes per contest.
  • The Citadel ranks fifth nationally in three-point field goals per game, ninth in three-point attempts (536), 13th in threes made (185), 14th in assists per game (17.3), and 24th in total assists (294).
  • The Bulldogs have dropped six of their eight games away from Charleston, but The Citadel opened the season with a 78-63 win at Pittsburgh on Nov. 9.


  • ETSU leads the all-time series 46-18, while winning five of the last six and 11 of the last 14 meetings.
  • The Bucs have won 24 of the last 31 meetings against the Bulldogs at home.
  • Last season, the teams defended their home floor with the Bucs winning 112-84 back on Jan. 30 inside Johnson City … The Bulldogs returned the favor with a 79-71 win on Feb. 10 … Ledarrius Brewer is averaging 20.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two games against The Citadel … Brewer had 20 (8-8 at the free throw line) with six rebounds in the home win, while finishing with 21 points (9-21 shooting) and three rebounds in the loss in Charleston.
