JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 28, 2022) – Over the years, Harrah’s Cherokee Center in Asheville has provided many special moments for the ETSU men’s basketball program and the Buccaneer faithful. From cutting down the nets in 2017 to capping off a historical run in 2020, the Blue and Gold have called the arena its home away from home.

On Friday, the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced details regarding a discounted ticket package to watch the ETSU men’s basketball team create another moment as the Bucs play in the 2022 Asheville Championship.

ETSU opens play in the tournament against Elon on Friday, Nov. 11 at 8:30 p.m. inside Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville. The winner will then face either Louisiana or Harvard for the championship on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 4:30 p.m. The consolation game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The current cost for an all-tournament ticket is $143; however, Interim Athletic Director Dr. Richard Sander has announced the ETSU Athletics Department will pay half of the cost for the ticket, meaning Buccaneer fans can get both sessions for $75 ($72 ticket and $3 handling fee).

“With basketball season on the horizon, I am excited to have an opportunity to see the Bucs compete in Asheville in a very competitive early season tournament,” said Sander. “Personally, I have always enjoyed going to Asheville to watch the Bucs in action. ETSU fans have always dominated Harrah’s Cherokee Center and hope we can do that again for this pre-conference event. Because of our great fan support in Asheville, we have decided to create a discounted ticket package to allow our Buccaneer faithful the opportunity to watch our men’s basketball team play in the Asheville Championship.”

Fans can purchase the reduced tickets by calling the ETSU Ticket Office at 423-439-3878 or at  For the ETSU games, the seat locations will be in reserved Sections 122-124.
