Bucs, Bulldogs tip-off Sunday at 1 p.m. on SEC Network

ATHENS, Ga. (Nov. 26, 2022) – The ETSU men’s basketball team looks to win at Georgia for the second straight season as the Buccaneers and Bulldogs tip things off Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. inside Stegeman Coliseum. The game will be broadcast on SEC Network.

  • ETSU suffered its second straight setback with a 74-70 loss to Appalachian State on Wednesday night.
  • Following the back-to-back losses, the Bucs sit at 3-3 on the season
  • Jalen Haynes (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) notched his first career double-double on Wednesday as he poured in 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds … Haynes became the second Buccaneer with a double-double this season as Josh Taylor (Atlanta) had his first against Louisiana (13 points/10 rebounds)
  • Sunday’s game features a pair of Georgia connections for the Blue and Gold … Josh Taylor spent his first two seasons at Georgia where he played in 17 for the Bulldogs, while head coach Desmond Oliver was an assistant coach at Georgia from 2004-09
  • Last season, ETSU ended non-conference play with a thrilling 86-84 win at Georgia on Dec. 22 when David Sloan hit the game-winning three-pointer with 8.4 seconds remaining … David Sloan and Jordan King had a hand in 76% of ETSU’s scoring as they combined for 46 points and their seven assists accounted for 19 points, equating to 65 of the Bucs’ 86 points … Sloan’s 24 points marked a career high and King added 22 points on five made threes … The win not only marked the Bucs’ first road victory of the season, but it was the second time in the last three years ETSU took down a Power 5 program and the fourth time in the last seven years the Blue and Gold accomplished the feat … ETSU defeated LSU 75-64 in 2019-20, while picking up a 67-65 road win at Mississippi State in 2016-17 and a 69-68 win at Georgia Tech in 2015-16
  • Since the 2007-08 season, ETSU has recorded seven wins over Power-5 programs ... The Bucs defeated LSU in 2019-20, Mississippi State in 2016-17 and 2010-11, Georgia Tech in 2015-16, Arkansas in 2009-10 and Georgia this season and in 2007-08 … ETSU has 18 all-time wins over SEC opponents
  • Since Feb. 16, 1987 in a game against Davidson, the Bucs have made at least one 3-pointer in 1,098 consecutive games ... ETSU was 0-for-8 in that 1987 game ... The Bucs currently have the fourth-longest streak in the NCAA, with UNLV topping the list with 1,167 games


  • Georgia enters Sunday’s game with an overall record of 4-2
  • The Bulldogs split their two games at last week’s Sunshine Slam where Georgia defeated Saint Joseph’s 66-53 on Monday and fell to UAB 87-73 on Tuesday
  • Georgia is 3-0 at home this season with wins over Western Carolina (68-55), Miami Ohio (77-70) and Bucknell (65-61)
  • As a team, Georgia is averaging 70.0 points per game, while shooting 40 percent from the floor, 29 percent from beyond the arc and 78 percent at the free throw line … Opponents are averaging 67.8 points, while shooting 44 percent from the field, 29 percent from three and 79 percent at the free throw line
