ETSU carries four-game SoCon road win streak into The Citadel

CHARLESTON S.C. (Jan. 10, 2023) – Coming off a pair of home setbacks, the ETSU men’s basketball team hopes to bounce back into the win column when the Buccaneers head to Charleston, S.C. to take on The Citadel on Wednesday night. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. inside McAlister Field House.

ABOUT THE BUCS

  • Following Saturday’s setback to Furman, the Bucs moved to 6-11 overall and 2-2 in league play
  • ETSU holds the longest win streak in SoCon road games as the Bucs have won four straight dating back to last season … The Blue and Gold picked up road wins at Wofford and VMI to open conference play, while ETSU ended last season with wins at The Citadel and UNCG
  • In their two SoCon road games this season, the Bucs are holding the opposition to 60.5 points, along with a 36 percent shooting clip (44-122) and an 18 percent mark from beyond the arc (11-62)
  • DeAnthony Tipler (Ashland, Miss.) led the Bucs with 15 points on Saturday against Furman … Tipler has scored in double figures 11 times this season
  • A pair of Bucs saw streaks end last Saturday with Jordan King’s (Albany, N.Y.) run of making at least one three-pointer end at 34 games, while Allen Strothers (Newport News, Va.) dished out at least one assist in his first 16 games before having zero against the Paladins
  • The Bucs have used six different starting lineups this season
  • ETSU has made at least one three-pointer in 1,109 straight games, marking the fourth-longest streak in the country 

ABOUT THE CITADEL    

  • The Citadel enters Wednesday’s home game with an overall record of 6-10 and a SoCon mark of 1-3
  • After knocking off Chattanooga in the SoCon opener, the Bulldogs have dropped three straight games – falling to Furman, Samford and Wofford
  • The Bulldogs are led by Stephen Clark and Austin Ash … Clark is leading the team in scoring at 15.9 points per game, while Ash – a graduate transfer from Iowa – is posting 15.6 points per contest
  • Clark also leads the team in rebounds (6.6), blocks (26) and field goals made (106), while Ash has knocked down a team-best 56 three-pointers
  • The Bulldogs are averaging 69.9 points and allowing 75.6 points per game 

SERIES HISTORY

  • The Citadel has won three of the last four meetings but ETSU leads the all-time series, 47-20
