Cross Country Teams Wrap Up 2000 Season

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State cross country teams concluded their 2000 season at the NCAA District IX Qualifier held in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

In women's results, ETSU garnered a ninth place finish in the Southern Conference Championships and posted three other top-10 finishes. The Bucs posted a fourth place-finish in the Catamount Classic, a second-place finish in the Virginia Tech Invitational and a seventh-place finish in the Blue Ridge Open

Emily Campbell anchored the ETSU women's team as she posted three top-10 finishes. Campbell posted a fourth-place finish at the Catamount Classic by recording a time of 19:40. Campbell also finished in seventh place in both the Virginia Tech Invitational and the Blue Ridge Open with times of 19:26 and 18:40 respectively.

Campbell finished 25th as she ran a 21:30 on the 6k course at the NCAA District IX Qualifyer. She was the first Buccaneer in the last 10 years to earn all district honors with the exception of Catherine Berry.

The men's team finished the season by placing eighth in the Southern Conference meet held in Boone, N.C. In other results, the Bucs finished 15th in the Furman Invitational, seventh in the Blue Ridge Open, third in the Virginia Tech Invitational, and ninth in the Catamount Classic.

Individually, the Bucs were paced by Greg Sprowl, who earned three top-10 finishes on the year. He posted a season-best 20:02 at the Catamount Classic. David Heafner also ran strong by placing 12th in the Virginia Tech Invitational by posting a time of 27:36.
