Johnson City, TN--The East Tennessee State University Cross Country teams brought home two seventh-place finishes in the Blue Ridge Open hosted by Appalachian State University.
In the women's race, Furman placed four runners in the top-10 to capture the title. Furman's Jill Braley completed the 5,000-meter race with a time of 17:35, outdistancing herself from Ute Jamrozy of the High Country Runners who completed the course with a time of 18:13. ETSU's best finish was seventh by senior Emily Campbell (18:40). Roseline Addo was the second Buc finisher, placing 22nd overall with a time of 19:27.
Also competing for the Bucs was freshman Charity Roberts (20:44/57th), Lauren Campbell (21:09/65th), Jennifer Howard (22:19/84th), Grace Ridge (23:14/91st), Kirsten Campbell (23:55/93rd), Katie Flanery (24:40/96th), Ashley Campbell (24:46/97th), and Tiffany Collier (26:10/98th).
ETSU junior Greg Sprowl led the Bucs, as he finished in 20th place with a time of 26:28 on the 8,000-meter course. Appalachian State claimed three of the top-10 spots to claim the team title. Appalachian's Ben Bissette won the individual title by posting a time of 25:23.
Also competing for the men was David Haefner (26:54/28th), Mitchell Thompson (27:13/38th), Jamaal Saunders (27:30/42nd) and Jason Hough (27:33/43rd).
The Bucs will return to action on October 14 when they travel to Greenville, S.C. for the Furman Invitational.
