JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 15, 2022) – ETSU Director of Cross Country/Track and Field George Watts announced the Buccaneers’ 2022 cross country schedule on Monday.

“As always, our athletes look forward to the beginning of a new school year and the opportunity to represent ETSU and the teammates in competition,” said Watts. “Our schedule includes meets we traditionally attend and gives us our best chance to succeed this cross-country season. The goal is to progress during the season, so we are at our best for the conference and regional championships.”

ETSU, who has four meets leading into the Southern Conference Championship, opens the season on Friday, Sept. 2 at the USC Upstate Eye Opener, which will be held at the Roger Milliken Research Center in Spartanburg, S.C.

Two weeks after the opener, the Bucs head to Blacksburg for the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational on Friday, Sept. 16. The men will run an 8K and women race a 6K at the Buford Meredith Cross Country Cross.

As the calendar turns to October, the Blue and Gold return to a familiar site as ETSU competes in the Live in Lou Cross Country Classic, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1 at Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, Ky. The Bucs have competed at this meet each of the last three full cross country seasons, including the women winning the 2019 event.

The Bucs’ final tune up for the conference championship sends ETSU to High Point University for the Vert Cross Invitational, held Friday, Oct. 14 at the Ivey M. Redmon Sports Complex.

The SoCon Championship is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30 at John’s Island Country Park in Charleston, S.C.

For the second straight year, the NCAA South Regional will be run at John Hunt Park in Huntsville, Ala. The regional is held Friday, Nov. 11 with the men running a 10K race and the women competing at 6K. The NCAA Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 19 in Stillwater, Okla.
