Title: Ticket Office Graduate Assistant 

About East Tennessee State University:

ETSU is located in Johnson City, Tennessee. The Buccaneers compete at the NCAA Division I level and are members of the Southern Conference. ETSU sponsors 19 varsity sports (football, baseball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s tennis, women’s tennis, men’s golf, women’s golf, indoor and outdoor track and field (men and women), cross country (men and women), softball, volleyball and women’s triathlon. Current ticketed sports include Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, & Baseball.

Position Summary: 
The Ticket Office Graduate Assistant will assist in the oversight, management, and accountability of the ETSU Athletics Ticket Office. This person will support the Director of Athletics Ticketing with all operations, sales, and customer service efforts. This position has supervisory and leadership responsibility for Ticket Representatives, Interns, and Student Workers as assigned.  The individual in this position must be able to deliver exceptional customer service, be able to think independently to interpret and communicate guidelines, policies, etc. Recognize, define, and resolve standard and non-standard problems applying operating procedures, practices, and established precedents. Resolve reoccurring issues and problems as well as unique situations. Additionally, this individual will be expected to understand and apply a variety of features in software programs, databases, and information systems in the performance of their duties.  

Description of Job Duties:  
Reporting to the Director of Athletics Ticketing, responsibilities for this position include:  

  1. Assist with all facets of the daily operations of the Ticket Office, ensuring compliance with the University, state, and federal laws, policies, and regulations.
  2. Assist with the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion, and enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution.
  3. Assist with reviewing ticketing needs and procedures with venue users; prepares events for system sales and conducts final event sales audits.
  4. Organize and coordinate the game day ticket office and on-site operations to enhance the fan experience with the ticketing process.
  5. Coordinate efforts with outbound sales calls to maximize season ticket renewal and retention.
  6. Create additional revenue through new sales of season tickets, group sales, flex packages, and single-game sales.
  7. Identify and target group ticket sale opportunities with individuals and businesses. 
  8. Assist with athletics donor engagement, communication, and cultivation.  
  9. Manage and track sales goals and report weekly on progress to the goals.
  10. Oversee all other admission-related aspects of special events. 
  11. Monitors and maintains the integrity of cash handling and fiscal procedures.
  12. Provides detailed sales and financial reports on a timely basis; maintains all ticket office records.
  13. Assist with the development of policies and procedures with those of the organization to ensure efficient and safe operations of the unit.
  14. Perform related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Experience with AudienceView Unlimited ticketing is preferred, but not required. 
  • Ability to communicate with various constituents; the general public; students; coaches; administrators.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and interactive skills and the ability to communicate and work effectively within a diverse community.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, time management, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to travel with an occasional overnight stay.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend hours.

Minimum Qualifications  

Bachelor's degree in related field with one (1) year of experience working in a Ticket Office, or related sales experience.

Ability to lift equipment, tools, and/or materials weighing up to 25 pounds waist-high. 

Graduate Assistants will receive:

  • An annual stipend of $8,300 (A 12-month contract renewable for two years.)
  • In-state maintenance tuition waiver and out-of-state tuition waiver (Does not include books and fees)
