Men's Golf Continues To Pace The Field In NCAA East Regional

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The East Tennessee State men's golf team shot a 10-under par 278 to hold the lead after the second round of the NCAA East Regional from the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va., hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University.

The 13th ranked Bucs are at 24-under par (274-278) after two rounds, three strokes ahead of North Carolina State.

Senior All-American Chris Wisler is in a three-way tie for third place at 7-under par (68-69=137) after shooting a second-round 69 (-3). The seventh-ranked Wisler fired six birdies on the day and attempting to finish in the top-5 in his fifth consecutive tournament. Sophomore Adam Riddering made a furious charge up the leaderboard on Friday, shooting a career-best 4-under par 68. Riddering was in a tie for 16th after the first round, but after day two he finds himself in sixth at 6-under par (70-68=138).

Like Wisler, senior Pat Beste shot 3-under par (69) on Friday. Beste is in a tie for 10th at 4-under par (71-69=140) after carding three birdies in the second round against no bogeys.

Sophomore Thomas Lee shot a 2-over par 74 in the second round, and is currently in tie for tenth with Beste at 4-under par (66-74=140)

Sophomore James Johnson shot an even-par 72 in his second round of play to end the day in a tie for 22nd (70-72=142).

The Buccaneers will return to action Saturday morning for the final round of the NCAA East Regional from Williamsburg, Va.
