The 14th ranked Bucs finished five stroked ahead of tournament host, the University of Virginia.
Senior Chris Wisler, who led after the first round, shot a 2-over par 74 to finish in second place at 1-under par (69-74=143), two shots back of the lead. Sophomore James Johnson shot a 1-over par 73 in the final round to finish in a tie with Wisler for second (70-73=143). Senior Patrick Beste tied for sixth at 1-over par (73-72=145) after shooting a even-par 72 in the final round of play. Sophomore Thomas Lee finished in a three-way tie for 16th at 7-over par (76-75=151) after firing a second-round 75. Fellow sophomore Adam Riddering rounded out the Bucs tournament, finishing in a tie for 26th (78-77=155) at 11-over par.
This win is the second tournament championship in a row and the third of season for the Buccaneers. ETSU has also won the Birkdale Collegiate Classic in Charlotte, N.C. on Mar. 5-6 and the Southern Conference Championships from Chattanooga, Tenn. on Apr. 20-22.
This is the second time the Bucs have won the Cavalier Classic. They also took home the team crown in 1989.
The Buccaneers now turn their attention to the NCAA East Regionals, May 17-19, at the Green Course of the Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg, Va., hosted by Virginia Commonwealth University.
