Men's Golf Leads Cavalier Classic After First Round

Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State senior Chris Wisler fired a first-round 69 (-3) to lead after the first day of the 2001 Cavalier Classic at the Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, Va. The Bucs shot an even par 288 on the par-72, 6,820-yard course to lead after one round.

Sophomore James Johnson is tied for second, just one stroke behind Wisler. Senior Patrick Beste is tied for seventh after shooting a 73 (+1) today, while sophomore Thomas Lee (76) is tied for 16th and sophomore Adam Riddering (78) is tied for 25th.

ETSU won the Cavalier Classic in 1989. The final round of the 2001 Cavailer Classic will begin at 8 a.m. on April 14.
