Men's Golf Tied for Ninth at Puerto Rico Classic

Johnson City, Tenn. -- The 17th-ranked East Tennessee State mens golf team is tied for ninth after two rounds of the Puerto Rico Classic in Palmer, Puerto Rico. The Bucs shot a 301-299--600 and are tied with 11th-ranked North Carolina State at the Westin Rio Mar Country Club.

Senior Chris Wisler leads the Bucs and is tied for 23rd with a two-round 148 (72-76). Senior Pat Beste (78-71) and sophomore James Johnson (76-73) are both tied for 28th after shooting a two-round 149. Adam Riddering is tied for 45th with a 157 (76-79) while fellow sophomore Thomas Lee is 69th after shooting a 75-85--160 in the first two rounds.

The Puerto Rico Classic features 10 teams ranked in the top-25, including the nations top three ranked teams: Georgia, Georgia Tech and Clemson. The Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets are tied for the lead after carding a 579 in the first two rounds.

Clemsons Lucas Glover leads the field by four strokes after shooting a two-round 138 (68-70). Georgia Techs Bryce Molder (71-71) and Georgias Ryan Hybl (72-70) are tied for second with a two-round 142.

The third and final round of the 2001 Puerto Rico Classic will begin at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, February 27.
