East Tennessee State Men's Golfers Finish Sixth in Tennessee Tournament of Champions

Johnson City, Tenn.-- The East Tennessee State mens golf team shot 1-over-par in Tuesdays third round to bring home a sixth-place finish in the Coca-Cola Tennessee Tournament of Champions from Holston Hills Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.

ETSU shot a final round 295, following a first-round score of 279 and a second round tally of 291. Leading the Buc attack was sophomore Thomas Lee who finished in a tie for 15th with a 1-under-par 215 (69, 70, 76). Preseason All-American, senior Chris Wisler, finished strong with a final round 71, good enough for a tie for 19th-just two strokes behind Lee (72, 74, 71). Senior Pat Beste, the 2000 Southern Conference Tournament medalist, finished in a tie for 23rd with a 219 (69, 78, 72). Finishing out the ETSU contingency were sophomore Adam Riddering with a 47th place 224 (69, 74, 81) and sophomore James Johnson (77, 73, 76) and freshman Anders Hovander (74, 73, 79) tying for 52nd with matching 226s.

Louisiana State University won the tournament with a 13-under-par 851. Alan Morgan, of LSU, earned the individual crown with a 7-under-par 209.

The Bucs will return to the links when they travel to Dalton, Ga. to compete in the Carpet Capital Collegiate on Oct. 6-8.
