Johnson City, Tenn. (Apr. 13, 2002) -- The East Tennessee State men's golfers are in 12th place after Saturday's first two rounds of The Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of North Carolina at Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C. East Tennessee State shot a 290 in Saturday's morning round and a 291 in the afternoon action. Host North Carolina leads the event after shooting a first-round 285 and a second-round 273. Junior James Johnson (Barbados) leads the Bucs, after shooting a 1-under-par 71 in his first round of play and an even-par 72 in his second. Johnson is in a tie for 22nd at 1-under-par (71-72=143). Freshman Marco Trejos (San Jose, Costa Rica) is two strokes behind Johnson, tying for 34th at 1-over-par (72-73=144). Junior Adam Riddering (Maple Grove, Minn.) ranks just behind Trejos, tied for 39th at 2-over-par (72-74=146). Freshman Cennydd Mills (Cardiff, Wales) finished Saturday's rounds in a tie for 54th at 7-over-par (75-76=151). Fellow freshman Jeremy Hobson (Thonotasassa, Fla.) finished one stroke behind Mills, in a tie for 59th (80-72=152) at 8-over-par after shooting a first-round 80 and then improving to a second-round 72. The Bucs return to the links tomorrow morning for the final round of The Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of North Carolina, from Finley Golf Course in Chapel Hill, N.C.
