Men's Golfers Finish Second at Charleston Southern Kickoff Classic

Johnson City, Tenn. (Feb. 19, 2002) - The East Tennessee State men's golf team shot a final round 290 to finish second in the Charleston Southern Kickoff Classic form Coosaw Creek Country Club in Charleston, S.C. The second-round 290 is a five-stroke improvement over Monday's first-round 295. Leading the Bucs on Tuesday was senior James Johnson (Barbados), who finished in third (72-70=144) after firing a final-round 70. Freshman Marco Trejos (San Jose, Costa Rica) showed great improvement, finishing in a tie for fourth following a second-round 67 on Tuesday after Monday's first-round 76. Fellow freshman Cennydd Mills (Cardiff, Wales) shot his second-straight 72 to finish in seventh place. East Tennessee State finished ten strokes behind the tournament champions, host Charleston Southern (285-290=575). The ETSU men's golfers return to action on Sunday from the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
