Wisler Helps United States to Victory in Palmer Cup

Johnson City, Tenn. -- East Tennessee State men's golfer Chris Wisler was one of four Americans to go undefeated in his four matches to help the United States to a 18-6 victory over Great Britain and Ireland in the 2001 Palmer Cup from Baltustrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. Wisler participated in two fourball matches on Wednesday. In his first match, Wisler and Jeff Quinney of Arizona State tied Oliver Wilson and Jamie Elson in the morning match. In the afternoon session, Wisler and John Engler of Clemson defeated Wilson and Justin Kehoe, 2 and 1. Wisler was perfect on Thursday, winning both of his singles matches. In his first round, Wisler defeated Wilson, 4 and 2. In his final match, Wisler defeated Kehoe, 6 and 5. This was the second Palmer Cup that Wisler, a three-time NCAA All-American, has participated in. The tournament is named after legendary golfer Arnold Palmer and features eight players from the United States competing against their counterparts from Great Britain and Ireland.
