Shaw, Power currently tied for first after round one, Bucs second at A-Sun Championship

                WAVERLY, Ga. (April 16, 2007) - ETSU sophomore Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) and freshman Seamus Power (Waterford, Ireland) fired rounds of 2-over 73 to finish tied for first place on the individual leaderboard, helping the 13th-ranked ETSU men's golf team to a second place standing after first round action in the Atlantic Sun Conference Championships Monday at The Golf Club at Sanctuary Cove.

 

            Shaw and Power are currently tied with North Florida's Jeff Dennis for the top spot among all players, while the Buccaneers trail UNF by five strokes in the team competition. The Ospreys finished the day at 18 over as a team, followed by the Bucs at 23 over and defending champion Jacksonville at 26 over.

 

            While the Bucs' got a solid effort from the Irish duo, the nation's No. 2-ranked player Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) posted an uncharacteristic score of 8-over 79 and is currently tied for 16th, six strokes off the pace set by the leaders. Meanwhile, other ETSU scores included a pair of 82s by junior Cian McNamara (Limerick, Ireland) and sophomore Jordan Findlay (Fraserburgh, Scotland), leaving the two tied for 32nd.
