JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 9, 2006) - ETSU senior and back-to-back, first-team All-American Rhys Davies (Bridgend, Wales) has been named Atlantic Sun Conference Golfer of the Month for October after posting a string of impressive results against some of the nation's top golfers. It is the fifth time Davies, the 2006 A-Sun Player of the Year, has been honored with a monthly award from the conference.

Davies became the first back-to-back, outright winner of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate thanks to his victory in the event back on October 14-15.  He posted three consecutive sub-par rounds to secure the three-stroke victory against an extremely competitive field.  With the victory, the senior ran his school record for career wins to eight. Davies also continued to climb the national rankings and is currently fifth in the most recent Golfweek/Sagarin Computer ranking, while he's also helped lead the ETSU men's team to a national team ranking of 11^th. 

In addition, Davies enjoyed a fourth-place finish in the Jerry Pate National Intercollegiate, and he also found time to compete in the World Amateur Team Championships, firing a course record 64 during that event while helping his Welsh team to a fourth place showing. He also landed 16th on the individual leaderboard in that event. For the month, Davies posted a 69.5 scoring average in nine October rounds.
