Shaw continues to add hardware to his collection; named All-American by Golfweek

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (June 10, 2008) - For the second time in as many days senior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) has been able to add to his All-American hardware collection. On Tuesday afternoon Golfweek released its 2008 All-American list and Shaw was selected to the Second Team.

 

Shaw ended the year ranked 12th in Golfweek's national ratings and was one of 10 Division I golfers to be named to the second team. Joining Shaw on the list was Webb Simpson from Wake Forest, Russell Henley, Adam Mitchell, and Hudson Swafford from Georgia, Florida's Bill Horschel, Troy Merritt from Boise State, UAB's Zack Sucher, Stanford's Rob Grube and Ryan Spears from Wichita State.

 

"This is quite an accomplishment for Gareth to receive another All-American honor," commented head coach Fred Warren. "He was an outstanding student-athlete for our program and I am proud of everything he has contributed to ETSU."

 

This has already been quite a week for the Lisburn, Northern Ireland native as he was tabbed Second Team All-American by PING on Monday. The 2008 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year also led the team in stroke average and claimed the conference individual crown back in April.  

 

Shaw is currently gearing up for his second consecutive appearance in the Palmer Cup, which is set to take place June 26-27 is Glasgow, Scotland.
