NORMAN, Okla. (June 9, 2008) - Senior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) helped guide the ETSU men's golf team to its 20th NCAA Championship appearance last month and on Monday afternoon, Shaw was one of 10 Division I golfers to receive PING Second Team All-American honors, which was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America.

Shaw, who was an honorable mention All-American last season, became the seventh player in Buccaneer history to receive either first or second team honors and the first second team selection for ETSU since Skeeter Heath won the award in 1975 and 1976. The Lisburn, Northern Ireland native, adds this All-American honor to a full list of accolades he has accumulated all season. During the campaign Shaw was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, First Team All-Atlantic Sun, A-Sun Golfer of the Month (twice), led the team in scoring average and posted eight top-10 finishes; including a first-place finish at the Atlantic Sun Championships in April.

"I am very pleased for Gareth to receive such a great honor," said head ETSU men's golf coach Fred Warren. "Gareth has been an all-around asset to this golf program both as a player and student, and is probably one of the best all-around golfers to play here."

Joining Shaw on the second team were Chesson Hadley of Georgia Tech, Georgia's Russell Henley, Adam Mitchell and Hudson Swafford, Chattanooga's Jonathan Hodge, Billy Horschel of Florida, Boise State's Troy Merritt, Wichita State's Ryan Spears and Zack Sucher of UAB.

Shaw is gearing up for his second straight appearance in the Palmer Cup, which will be played June 26-27 in Glasgow, Scotland.
