RIO GRANDE, P.R. (March 1, 2008) - Senior Gareth Shaw (Lisburn, Northern Ireland) fired a 3-under-par 69 to move to third place on the individual leaderboard, and the No. 24-ranked ETSU men's golf team remains in contention following second round action Saturday in the Puerto Rico Classic at the Rio Mar Country Club's River Course.
The Buccaneers are currently sixth on the team leaderboard, seven strokes off the pace set by No. 2 Alabama, which finished the day at 2-under 574 for the tournament.
"The conditions were really tough today, and it was especially windy, but we hung in there," said ETSU head coach Fred Warren. "Both Gareth and Simon (Doherty) played very well, and as a team we were decent overall and still not too far back. Seven strokes off the lead going into the last day still gives us a chance to do well."
