JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 1, 2008) - The ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics officially announced Friday that longtime men's golf coach Fred Warren has signed a new contract extension.

Having served as men's golf coach at ETSU since 1986, Warren's new contract keeps the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame member at ETSU until 2012, with a rollover clause that would extend the deal to 2017. Warren, who has guided the Bucs to the NCAA Championships 15 times, has consistently produced highly-ranked teams and talented All-American players.

"I'm happy to be continuing as the men's golf coach at East Tennessee State," Warren said. "I look forward to helping our players reach their potential both on the course and in the classroom. We have a proud tradition of success here and we work every day to maintain those high standards."

ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins said he was glad to see the contract finalized.

"We have enjoyed a great deal of success in our men's golf program," said ETSU Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dave Mullins. "Coach Warren recruits high-quality student-athletes that are great golfers, and we look forward to Coach Warren continuing his work with our men's golf program."
