JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 12, 2014) – Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) cracked the top-100 of the World Amateur Golf Rankings this week as the ETSU men’s golfer moved 11 spots to No. 93 in the latest national poll.
Meronk, who leaped to No. 14 in last week’s Golfweek Collegiate Rankings, joins fellow Buccaneers Rhys Davies, Gareth Shaw, Chris Wisler, Rhys Enoch and Rhys Pugh to reach the top-100 of the World Amateur Rankings, since 2000. Davies recorded the highest ranking of the group at No. 2 (May of 2007) and won a program-best 10 tournaments at ETSU, while claiming three professional wins on tour.
Meronk’s stellar play this fall helped fuel his charge up the rankings as he led the Bucs in all six tournaments, while earning medalist honors at the Inverness Intercollegiate and Wolfpack Intercollegiate. In total, Meronk posted five top-10 finishes this fall and 14 of his 17 rounds played were of par or better. To go with his pair of medalist honors, Meronk also registered four wins over top-25 golfers and 14 over top-50.
This also marks an historic achievement for Meronk’s homeland, as it’s the highest world ranking for an amateur golfer in Poland.
Meronk and the Bucs open the spring season on Feb. 22 when ETSU heads to San Juan for the Puerto Rico Classic.
