RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico (Feb. 24, 2015) – For the seventh straight time this season, ETSU junior Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) led the ETSU men's golf team in tournament play.

Meronk, who paced the Blue and Gold in all six fall tournaments, finished tied for 14th at the Puerto Rico Classic, which concluded on Tuesday at the Rio Mar Beach Resort & Spa’s River Course.

For the second consecutive round, Meronk – Golfweek's 12th-ranked golfer – posted a 2-under-par 70 and finished the 54-hole tournament at 1-under-par 215 (75-70-70). Meronk registered four of his 10 birdies on Tuesday, and was 3-under for the round before carding double bogeys on a pair of par-5s (No. 4 and No. 8), but the Buccaneer leader posted a birdie on his second-to-last hole to end with the 70.

Overall, the 33rd-ranked Buccaneers shot a 9-over 297 in the final round and tied for 11th with UNCG at 25-over-par 889 (299-293-297).

Georgia led wire-to-wire and claimed the 2015 Puerto Rico Classic after beating out in-state rival Georgia Tech by seven strokes. The 40th-ranked Bulldogs tallied a team score of 12-under-par 852 (280-281-291), while the fifth-ranked Yellow Jackets were the only other team to record a 54-hole score below par. Georgia Tech ended at 5-under-par 859 (292-274-293).

Alabama's Dru Love and Virginia Tech's Scott Vincent shared medalist honors by penciling in a tournament score of 7-under-par 209.

ETSU's other countable scores consisted of Chris Hickman's (Centreville, Md.) 2-over-par 218 (74-70-74), Mateusz Gradecki's (Oborniki Śląskie, Poland) 10-over-par 226 (73-76-77) and Gudmundur Kristjansson's (Reykjavik, Iceland) 14-over-par 230 (77-77-76).

This marked ETSU's first tournament of the spring season, while the Bucs return to action on March 9 at the General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
