MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 12, 2017) – Due to the inclement weather that hit the southeast region on Sunday, the final round of the General Hackler Championship has been cancelled.
The tournament concluded with the 36-hole scores as senior Mateusz Gradecki (Oborniki Slaskie, Poland) finished tied for ninth at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Gradecki posted a 36-hole score of even-par 144 (72-72).
The Bucs finished tied for ninth at 20-over-par 596 (297-299) en route to placing ahead of three top-50 teams – No. 3 Virginia, No. 42 Iowa State, and No. 45 NC State.
Wake Forest claimed both the team and individual titles as the 12th-ranked Demon Deacons registered a 15-under-par 561 (279-282), while Will Zalatoris – the 12th-ranked player via Golfstat – earned medalist honors by posting a 9-under-par 135 (68-67). Zalatoris finished a one stroke ahead of Kent State’s Ian Holt (No. 28) and two shots ahead of teammate Paul McBride.
ETSU freshman Ben Reichert (East Amherst, N.Y.) finished tied for 28th at 3-over-par 147 (72-75), while sophomore Geuntae Kim (Daegu, South Korea) tied for 54th at 7-over-par 151 (76-75).
The Bucs return to action this Friday as the Blue and Gold head to Statesboro, Ga., for the Schenkel Invitational.
