RALEIGH, N.C. (April 15, 2017) – Playing in their final tournament before the Southern Conference Championship, senior Mateusz Gradecki (Oborniki Slaskie, Poland) and freshman Trevor Hulbert (Orlando, Fla.) paced the ETSU men’s golf team as the Buccaneer duo finished tied for 25th at the Wolfpack Spring Open, which concluded Saturday afternoon at Lonnie Poole Golf Course.
Gradecki and Hulbert both posted 54-hole scores of 1-over-par 214, while the Blue and Gold finished 10th at 15-over-par 867 (297-279-291). Gradecki turned in a 1-over 72 in Saturday’s final round to move four spots up the leaderboard after totaling rounds of 74-68-72 on the weekend. Hulbert bagged three birdies, five bogeys and 10 pars to finish with a 2-over 73 in the final round.
North Carolina State, the tournament host, made it a clean sweep as the Wolfpack won both the team and individual titles. Nolan Mills fired a 4-under 67 on Saturday to finish 13-under-par 200 en route to claiming a four-shot win over teammate Jacob McBride. NC State went low on Saturday as the 42nd-ranked Wolfpack recorded a 6-under 278 and finished with a team score of 31-under-par 821. The Wolfpack – who have won this tournament for the third straight year – won by 13 shots as No. 14 Clemson finished second at 18-under-par 834, while No. 19 Duke placed third at 3-under-par 849.
Sophomore Geuntae Kim (Daegu, South Korea) led the Bucs in the final round as he shot an even-par 71 and finished tied for 54th (+9). Junior Cayman Ratliff (Kingsport, Tenn.) placed tied for 38th at 5-over-par 218.
The Bucs now turn their attention to the conference championship, which begins Sunday, April 23 at Pinehurst No. 9.
