SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 25, 2020) – It was another record-setting day for ETSU Athletics, this time thanks to the Southern Conference Honor Roll. The Bucs placed 262 student-athletes on the 2019-20 SoCon Honor Roll, blowing by the program’s previous record of 229 set in 2017-18. The SoCon office released the Honor Roll on Thursday morning.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (June 24, 2020) – A record-setting 62 ETSU student-athletes accounted for the Buccaneers’ 79 total selections on the Southern Conference Spring All-Academic list, as the league office announced it honors on Wednesday.
NORMAN, Okla. (June 18, 2020) – The first wave of the Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Division I, II, III, NAIA and NJCAA were announced on Wednesday afternoon by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Four different Buccaneers were named to the All-America Scholar list: Austin Carter (Kingsport, Tenn.), Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan), Trevor Hulbert (Orlando, Fla.) and Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.).

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 24, 2020) – ETSU Men’s Golfer Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) has been named to the PING All-American Honorable Mention team on Thursday, April 23.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 20, 2020) – ETSU men’s golf head coach Jake Amos has announced the addition of Josh McCabe (Dublin, Ireland) and Campbell Wolf (Mechanicsburg, Pa.) to join the Buccaneer program in the fall of 2020. McCabe has signed a National Letter of Intent to enroll as a true freshman, while Wolf has signed a scholarship and will transfer from DePaul University to join the Bucs for his final two years of eligibility. McCabe and Wolf will join Ben Carberry (signed Nov. 14) to make up the 2020-21 signing class.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (April 18, 2020) – A pair of Buccaneer Men’s Golfers were tabbed with postseason honors as Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) and Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) were named to the PING Division I East All-Region team on Thursday afternoon. The all-region teams were announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The ETSU duo are two of just three Southern Conference golfers named to the list, joined by Jonathan Brightwell of UNCG.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 17, 2020) -- By unanimous votes of the league’s Council of Presidents and directors of athletics, the Southern Conference is canceling all athletics-related activities for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, including competition, championships, organized practices and meetings, due to the ongoing threat of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic, Commissioner Jim Schaus announced Tuesday.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (March 11, 2020) – ETSU men’s golfer and lone senior, Trevor Hulbert (Orlando, Fla.), has been named this week’s Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week. Hulbert captured the honor as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 10, 2020) – The final round of the General Hackler Championship concluded on Monday afternoon in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with the Bucs staying put in fourth place. The ETSU Men’s Golf team recorded a fourth-place finish after carding a final-round score of 4-under-par (284) to finish with a tournament score of 5-under-par (859).
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 9, 2020) – The first two rounds of the General Hackler Championship are in the books and the ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team is tied for fourth place at 1-under-par for the event. The Bucs are tied with North Carolina State, while trailing No. 35 Liberty (-5), No. 7 Wake Forest (-7) and No. 26 North Carolina (-12).
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (March 8, 2020) – The ETSU Men’s Golf team has officially made the trek to the Palmetto State to take part in the 2020 General Hackler Championship in Myrtle Beach, S.C. The jam-packed tournament will feature 15 teams and will be played at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. The event will begin on Monday, March 9 and conclude on Tuesday, March 10.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Feb. 26, 2020) – ETSU Men’s Golfer and Tennessee native Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) has laid claim to his third Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week award this year. Rhea captured the honor in back-to-back weeks on Oct. 16 and Oct. 23. The league office announced the award on Wednesday afternoon.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 23, 2020) – The start of the spring season did not disappoint as the Bucs displayed their prowess in the final round with a score of 8-under-par (280) to finish in sole possession of second place at the Seminole Intercollegiate hosted by Florida State in Tallahassee, Fla. ETSU finished second with a score of 2-under-par (862), joining Washington (-9) as the only two teams under par in the field. This is the fourth finish for the Bucs inside the Top 2 this season.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 22, 2020) – With the first two rounds of the Seminole Intercollegiate in the books, the ETSU Men’s Golf team is positioned nicely in a tie for fourth place at 6-over-par (582). The tournament is being held at the Golden Eagle Country Club, hosted by Florida State. The Bucs are currently five strokes behind the leader, 17th-ranked Washington who sits at 1-over-par (577).
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Feb. 21, 2020) – After nearly a four-month break, the ETSU Men’s Golf team will return to team play on Saturday, Feb. 22 as the Bucs travel to Tallahassee, Fla. to take part in the Seminole Intercollegiate. The last time out as a team, the Bucs claimed the Hoakalei CC Collegiate Invitational in Oahu Island, Hawaii on Oct. 28-30.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Feb. 12, 2020) – The ETSU Buccaneers will start team play on Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Seminole Intercollegiate in Tallahassee, Fla. The Bucs will enter the tournament as the 24th-ranked squad in the latest Golfstat rankings, released on Tuesday afternoon.
STATESBORO, Ga. (Feb. 3, 2020) – With the first event of the spring 2020 schedule, ETSU’s very own Austin Carter (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Sam Espinosa (Pedrena, Spain) did not disappoint. Competing in the Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate event, Espinosa carded his first collegiate Top-10 finish, tying for ninth. Meanwhile, Carter concluded the tournament with a Top-25 appearance, his first of the season.
STATESBORO, Ga. (Jan. 31, 2020) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team will resume its season this weekend with the Georgia Southern Individual Collegiate beginning on Sunday, Feb. 2 in Statesboro, Ga. The Bucs will send a pair of golfers to the event in Austin Carter (Kingsport, Tenn.) and Sam Espinosa (Pedrena, Spain).
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 18, 2019) – Former ETSU alum Geuntae Kim (Daegu, South Korea) becomes the second Buccaneer in two weeks to earn his tour card. Kim joins Adrian Meronk in the tour-card category after claiming the victory at the Korean Tour Q School on Friday, Nov. 15.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 14, 2019) – ETSU Men’s Golf Coach Jake Amos announced on Thursday that Ben Carberry (Bonnybridge, Scotland) has signed a national letter of intent to join the Buccaneer program in the fall of 2020.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Nov. 11, 2019) – Former ETSU alum Adrian Meronk (Wroclaw, Poland) made history on Sunday afternoon, becoming the first Poland native to earn a European Tour Card. Meronk’s card is good for the 2020 campaign.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 6, 2019) – Despite the fall season coming to a conclusion on Oct. 30, ETSU junior golfer Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) laid claim to a second consecutive weekly award. Go was tabbed as the Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week for the second consecutive week, marking the fourth straight week that the Bucs have garnered the honor.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Nov. 1, 2019) -- The Southern Conference announced its Player of the Month awards for October on Friday afternoon and four Buccaneers received accolades.
O’AHU ISLAND, Hawaii. (Oct. 30, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers men’s golf team capped off the 2019 fall schedule with a win in Hawaii, claiming the inaugural Hoakalei CC Collegiate Invitational on Wednesday afternoon with a final-round score of 15-under-par 273. The Bucs distanced themselves from the rest of the field following the second-lowest round of the tournament, outlasting No. 41-ranked Ole Miss (-20) by nine strokes. The Bucs began the day in a tie with Louisville at 14-under-par until ETSU caught fire and recorded a 29-under-par 835 for the event.
SPARTANBURG, S.C. (Oct. 30, 2019) – ETSU Men’s Golfer Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) has laid claim to a pair of Southern Conference awards on Wednesday afternoon, as announced by the SoCon office. Go secured his first SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Week award this season, as well as his first General Shale SoCon Student-Athlete of the Week award in 2019.
O’AHU ISLAND, Hawaii. (Oct. 29, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers men’s golf team shook off a slow start to climb one spot to the top of the leaderboard following a 2-under-par 286 round on Tuesday afternoon. The Bucs began the day six shots back of Ole Miss and are now tied with Louisville at 14-under-par overall. The Cardinals and Bucs had a wire finish in the 2019 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate in which Louisville walked away victories, defeating ETSU by five strokes.
O’AHU ISLAND, Hawaii. (Oct. 28, 2019) – The inaugural Hoakalei CC Collegiate Invitational started off on a positive note for the Bucs as ETSU carded a 12-under-par 276 to sit second on the leaderboard at Hoakalei Country Club in O’ahu Island, Hawaii. The 276 for ETSU is the second time that the Bucs have broken the 280 mark on the season as ETSU fired a 269 in the second round of the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate.
O’AHU ISLAND, Hawaii (Oct. 27, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers men’s golf team will wrap up fall competition beginning on Monday, Oct. 28 with a three-day event in Hawaii. The Bucs will compete in the Hoakalei CC Collegiate Invitational from Oct. 28-30, playing at Hoakalei Country Club on O’ahu Island, Hawaii.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 23, 2019) – ETSU Men’s Golfer and Tennessee native Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) claimed his second consecutive Southern Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week honor. The award was announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (Oct. 20, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers men’s golf team wrapped up its performance in the 2019 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Sunday, carding a 4-over-par 292 to finish 20-over-par (884) for the tournament. The Bucs finished 12th in a heavy field at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga., a tournament that featured seven Top 25 teams and 13 teams found inside the Top 75. The tournament also featured 44 individual golfers listed inside the Top 250 according to Golfstat, including three golfers inside the Top 10.
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (Oct. 19, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers men’s golf team had to weather both the golf course and the conditions on Saturday’s second round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. With steady rain and gusts of up to 23 miles per hour, ETSU posted a 13-over-par 301, falling to 11th overall in the field at 16-over-par. There were no team scores under par in the second round of the event.
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (Oct. 18, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf squad finds themselves sitting in 10th place after a 3-over-par 291 in the opening round of the 2019 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate. The tournament is being played at the Golf Club of Georgia (Lakeside Course) in Alpharetta, Ga.
ALPHARETTA, Ga. (Oct. 17, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team will compete in the 2019 Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate from Friday – Sunday, hosted by the NCAA’s top-ranked team in Georgia Tech. The tournament will be played at the Golf Club of Georgia (Lakeside Course) in Alpharetta, Ga.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 16, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team captured its first Southern Conference weekly honor of the season as Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) was tabbed as the SoCon Men’s Golfer of the Week, as announced by the league office this afternoon.
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 13, 2019) – Despite not claiming the team championship, the ETSU Buccaneers received a boost from its hometown junior as Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) laid claim to his first-ever individual championship at the collegiate level. Rhea became just the fourth Buccaneer to win the Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate individual championship and the first since Adrian Meronk did so back in 2015. Rhea finished the tournament at 15-under-par (201), tying 2018’s winner (Simon Zach) for the second-lowest three-round score in the tournament’s history.
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 12, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf climbed five spots up the leaderboard following day two of the 2019 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges. The Bucs carded a tournament-record-tying 269 (-19) as a unit, tying Virginia’s mark set in 2016. With the second-round 269, the Bucs wiped away an 8-stroke deficit and turned the leaderboard around with a 2-stroke advantage over Tennessee with just 18 holes to play on Sunday.
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 11, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team had to shake off a rusty start in the lone home event of the season as the Bucs opened the 2019 Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate with a 7-under-par (281) in the opening round on Friday afternoon. This is the 22nd edition of the tournament as 15 teams took the course at The Blackthorn Club at the Ridges in Jonesborough, Tenn.
JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (Oct. 10, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team will host its much-anticipated home tournament this weekend, the 22nd Bank of Tennessee Intercollegiate at the Blackthorn Club at the Ridges. ETSU will get to showcase its talents on the course in front of the home faithful, while playing host to 14 strong programs in the 2019 field. The tournament will get underway on Friday, Oct. 11 and will conclude with the final round on Sunday, Oct. 13.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 17, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team concluded the Windon Memorial in Lake Forest, Ill. on Tuesday afternoon firing an even-par round of 284. The 284 in the final round kept the Bucs at 7th overall in the event and was tied for the third-lowest round of the day, allowing the Bucs to finish with a score of 860 (+8) for the tournament.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 16, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf Team sits in the middle of the pack following day one of the Windon Memorial hosted by Northwestern in Lake Forest, Ill. The Bucs had a scorching 18 holes in round one, firing a 281 (-3) to sit in 2nd place. However, a tougher second 18-hole stretch saw the Bucs drop to 7th place following an 11-over-par 295 in the second round. ETSU played 36 holes in day one with a shotgun start at 9:30 a.m. ET followed by round two immediately after the conclusion of round one. Four different Buccaneers are tied for 23rd overall at 2-over-par 144.
LAKE FOREST, Ill. (Sept. 15, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers Men’s Golf team will look to carry the strong start from the opening weekend into Lake Forest, Ill. when ETSU takes part in the Windon Memorial Classic hosted by Northwestern. The tournament will be played at Conway Farms.
ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 8, 2019) – The ETSU Buccaneers saw their first tournament of the 2019-20 season come to an end on Sunday afternoon in Rocky Face, Ga. Competing in the Carpet Capital Collegiate for the first time since 2010, the Bucs did not disappoint in the opening tournament, placing T-2 with Charlotte and North Florida with a score of 17-over-par 881. ETSU only trailed host Georgia Tech, finishing with a score of 3-under-par 861. ETSU was one of only four teams to improve each round from carding a 302 (+14), 291 (+3) and a 288 (E) to make the biggest jump up the leaderboard for the second consecutive day, catapulting from 7th to 2nd.
ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 7, 2019) – For the second consecutive round, reigning Southern Conference individual champion Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) led the ETSU men’s golf team in the Carpet Capital Collegiate. Four of the five golfers in today’s action showed an improvement in their scores. The Buccaneers made the biggest leap up the leaderboard, jumping three spots after tallying the best improvement from round one to round two, a difference of 11 strokes (302 – 291).
ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 6, 2019) – Juniors Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) and Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) led the ETSU men’s golf team in the opening round of the Carpet Capital Collegiate, the first tournament of the 2019-20 season. The Bucs are competing in the Carpet Capital Collegiate event for the first time since 2010.
ROCKY FACE, Ga. (Sept. 5, 2019) – The ETSU Men’s Golf team will tee off for the first time this weekend as the Buccaneers head to Rocky Face, Ga. to partake in the Carpet Capital Collegiate hosted by Georgia Tech.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 7, 2019) – East Tennessee State University men’s golf coach Jake Amos has announced the hiring of former ETSU great Mike Hulbert on Wednesday morning.
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 6, 2019) -- bioPURE Services announced on Tuesday that East Tennessee State University Athletics recently became a bioPURE Certified TMathletic facility. This certification means that ETSU athletes will experience a higher level of clean and disinfection in high-use locations like the weight room and the various locker rooms throughout the athletic complex.
