Davies, Go and Rhea set for 120th U.S. Amateur Championship

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Aug. 8, 2020) – A trio of Buccaneers will tee off in the 120th U.S. Amateur Championship in Bandon, Oregon. The 120th U.S. Amateur will be played at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, using both Bandon Dunes (par-72, 7,218 yards) and Bandon Trails (par-71, 6,883 yards).

Archie Davies (Carlisle, England), Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) and Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) will all tee off in the first round on Monday, Aug. 10 as part of the 264-player field. The tournament will run from Aug. 10-16.

The schedule for the U.S. Amateur will feature two 18-hole stroke play rounds, one on Monday, Aug. 10 followed by Tuesday, Aug. 11. The field will then be cut down to just 64 players for a match play on Wednesday, Aug. 12. Thursday will then feature both round of 32 and round of 16 match play. Friday, Aug. 14 and Saturday, Aug. 15 will be reserved for the quarterfinal and semifinal matches. Championship Sunday will be on Aug. 16 with a 36-hole championship match.

Davies will tee off at 10:22 a.m. (ET) at Bandon Dunes, playing alongside Brent Ito (U.S.) and Giovanni Tadiotto (Belgium). Davies’ second round tee time will be 2:35 p.m. (ET) at Bandon Trails. Go and Rhea will see familiar faces as they are slated to play alongside each other in the opening round with a 6:04 p.m. (ET) tee time at Bandon Trails. The ETSU duo will be joined by Maxwell Ford (U.S.). Go and Rhea will then tee off at 1:51 p.m. (ET) in round two, this time playing at Bandon Dunes.

The oldest USGA Championship, established in 1895, has featured some of the biggest winners in golf history. Those names include: Bobby Jones, Francis Ouimet, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson and Bryson DeChambeau.
