Davies leads ETSU with T-10th finish

WEST POINT, Miss. (March 28, 2021) – After nearly a four-hour weather delay, the Bucs were finally able to take the course in the final round of the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship. ETSU climbed as high as fifth in the team standings but could not sustain the momentum, settling for an 8th-place finish with a team score of 2-over-par (866). The Bucs posted a 4-over-par (292) in the final round, which marked the fourth-best team score of the day.

ETSU was led by Archie Davies (Carlisle, England) who posted a 2-under-par (70) as the only Buccaneer in red figures. Davies had a strong showing with five birdies and just three bogeys. The England native jumped 20 spots up the leaderboard into a four-way tie for 10th, his second top-10 finish of the season.

Remi Chartier (Montreal, Canada) captured his best collegiate finish, carding an even-par (72) final round to finish T-27th. Chartier began his day on hole No. 9 and posted a 1-under-par (35) score in the back nine. The redshirt-freshman carded one finaly bogey on the par-4 6th hole.

The final two Buccaneers that posted countable scores were Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan) and Trevor Hulbert (Orlando, Fla.) who each carded a 3-over-par (75). Go finished the tournament at 2-over-par to sit in T-33, while Hulbert finished T-46th at 4-over-par.

Georgia claimed the title with a 20-under-par (844) team score. The Bulldogs were followed by host Mississippi State and Texas A&M who tied for second at 10-under-par.

Sam Bennett of Texas A&M won the podium with an 11-under-par (205) tournament. Georgia’s Eli Scott finished second at 9-under-par, while Arkansas’ Tyson Reeder collected third at 8-under-par.

ETSU will compete in one final tournament before the Southern Conference Championship, playing in the Stitch Intercollegiate on April 9-10 in Cary, N.C.
