CARY, N.C. (April 8, 2021) – The ETSU Men’s Golf team is gearing up for its final tournament of the 2020-21 regular season, the Stitch Intercollegiate in Cary, N.C. The tournament will begin with 36 holes on Friday and conclude with 18 holes of action on Saturday. The 2021 Stitch Intercollegiate will be played at MacGregor Downs Country Club and will be the final event before the Southern Conference Championship on April 19-20.

ETSU is looking for a strong finish to the regular season after finishing 8th at the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship on March 28. The Bucs have one Top-5 finish in the last three tournament and have not finished better than fourth this spring season.
The Bucs will be led by Archie Davies (Carlisle, England) in the top spot. The redshirt-freshman is leading the team in strokes per round at 73.1. Davies is coming off his best finish of the season, finishing T-10th at the Old Waverly Collegiate at 3-under-par (213). Trevor Hulbert (Orlando, Fla.) will line up behind Davies and has been a solid combination with the redshirt-freshman, averaging 73.2 strokes per round. Hulbert has three Top-10 finishes this season, including two Top-5 tournaments.
Shiso Go (Kanagawa, Japan), Remi Chartier (Montreal, Canada) and Jack Rhea (Jonesborough, Tenn.) will round out the lineup for the Bucs. Chartier is fresh off his best collegiate finish at the Old Waverly Collegiate, placing T-27th after a 1-over-par (217) outing.
About the Tournament
The 2021 Stitch Intercollegiate will be played at beautiful MacGregor Downs Country Club in Cary, N.C. and will be played over a span of two days. The event will begin with 36 holes of play on Friday before concluding with 18 holes on Saturday.
Each team will play in its own grouping due to COVID-19 restrictions at MacGregor Downs. All five Buccaneers will play alongside each other for the duration of the tournament.
The Stitch Intercollegiate features a 12-team field, including four ACC competitors. N.C. State (the host) enters the event as the highest rated team falling in at No. 9. Notre Dame (#26) and Duke (#40) find themselves ranked ahead of the Bucs who are currently No. 55.
N.C. State’s Ben Shipp is the highest rated player in the field at No. 27, followed by Campbell’s Ponus Nyholm who is No. 31.
ETSU will use the lineup of: 1) Archie Davies; 2) Trevor Hulbert; 3) Shiso Go; 4) Remi Chartier and 5) Jack Rhea.
