RALEIGH, N.C. (April 8, 2022) – ETSU Men’s Golf opened the final regular-season tournament on a one-hour weather delay in Raleigh, N.C. The Buccaneers found themselves in 8th-place after the opening round but have climbed to solo 6th before darkness halted the opening day of the Stitch Intercollegiate at Lonnie Poole Golf Course in Raleigh, N.C.
Archie Davies (Carlisle, England) currently sits T-3rd on the leaderboard at 3-under-par for the event. Davies concluded his opening round with a 70 (-2) to sit in a tie for third and has maintained that position with six holes remaining in his second round. The Welsh golfer started his first round off with a birdie on the par-5 1st hole. Davies carded three birdies and three bogeys in his opening round but climbed to 2-under-par thanks to an eagle on the par-4 13th. The veteran golfer is currently 1-under-par in his second round with one birdie and 11 pars before play was suspended.
Remi Chartier (Montreal, Canada) is even-par through 30 holes of play and sits in a five-way tie for 12th. Chartier’s opening round featured three birdies and three bogeys to finish with a 72 (E). The Canada product carded all three birdies on the front nine. Chartier then opened his second round with a birdie on the par-4 10th hole, but surrendered the shot three holes later to drop back to even-par.
Ben Carberry (Bonnybridge, Scotland) and Algot Kleen (Fiskebackskil, Sweden) round out the top four positions for the Bucs through the shortened first day. Carberry is currently tied for 45th at 5-over-par, while Kleen is T-49th with a score of 6-over-par.
Duke sits atop the team leaderboard with a score of 7-under-par, followed by Notre Dame and N.C. State who are tied for second at 3-under-par.
N.C. State’s Maximillian Steinlechner leads the field at 6-under-par with six holes remaining in his second round. Duke’s Quinn Riley is sitting in second at 4-under-par, followed by four golfers at 3-under-par.
The second round will resume tomorrow at 8 a.m. sharp where golfers will finish their second round. Following the conclusion of the second round, the field will immediately roll into the final round of action.
