RALEIGH, N.C. (April 9, 2022) – ETSU Men’s Golf concluded the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday afternoon, finishing seventh in the 13-team field at the Stitch Intercollegiate in Raleigh, N.C.
Archie Davies (Carlisle, England) led the Buccaneers on the leaderboard, finishing tied for 8th overall. The Welsh International golfer picked up his second round with six holes remaining and finished 1-over-par in the closing holes of his second round, posting an even-par (72) second round. Davies carded a final-round 75 (+3), falling to 1-over-par (217) for the event. Davies’ final round included three birdies and six bogeys.
Ben Carberry (Bonnybridge, Scotland) and Remi Chartier (Montreal, Canada) tied for 29th overall for the tournament with a score of 7-over-par (223). Carberry posted the hot round for ETSU in the closing 18 holes with two birdies and three bogey to shoot a 73 (+1). Both of Carberry’s birdies happened on the opening hole of each nine. Chartier carded a final-round 74 (+2) to drop back into a tie with Carberry. The Canada native concluded his regular season with three birdies, three bogeys and one double bogey.
Algot Kleen (Fiskebackskil, Sweden) was the fourth-highest individual for ETSU, finishing in a tie for 51st with a score of 12-over-par (228). Kleen began his final round with an eagle on the par-5 1st, but labored through the remainder of his round with one birdie, four bogeys and one double bogey.
Duke claimed the individual title as the only team below par at 3-under-par. Notre Dame and N.C. State finished tied for second with a tournament score of even-par.
Quinn Riley of Duke claimed the individual podium with a tournament score of 4-under-par, fending off a four-person tie for second at 3-under-par.
ETSU will tee it up in the Southern Conference Championship in two weeks beginning on Friday, April 22 and concluding on Sunday, April 24. The Bucs will look to defend their SoCon title in Greensboro, Ga.
