Men's Soccer continues SoCon play, hosts Mercer Saturday

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (Oct. 3, 2014) - The ETSU men's soccer team will continue Southern Conference play Saturday, Oct. 4 as the Buccaneers host former Atlantic Sun running mate Mercer at 7:00 p.m.


Following back-to-back wins over Conference USA opponents, the Buccaneers (4-4, 0-1) suffered setbacks at Winthrop and Wofford.

Redshirt sophomore Joao Ramalho (Monte Santo, Brazil) is pacing the Bucs' offense, ranking fifth in the nation for goals per game (0.86). Ramalho leads ETSU with 15 points (7G, 1A).

Nine other ETSU players have found the scoring column, including redshirt junior Emmanuel Wilson (Memphis, Tenn.) and sophomore William Nordenstrom (Linkoping, Sweden), who have each recorded one goal and one assist on the year.

The Bears (5-4, 1-0) opened SoCon play with a 1-0 win at VMI Saturday, Sept. 27.

Mercer has recorded a shutout in each of its five victories, ranking 14th in the nation for shutout percentage (0.56).

Freshman Will Bagrou leads the Bears with three goals on the year. Four Mercer players have scored two goals.
