GREENSBORO, N.C. (Oct. 11, 2014) - The ETSU men's soccer team played UNC Greensboro to a scoreless draw through 58 minutes Saturday night and matched the Spartans shot-for-shot; however, two second-half goals by UNCG doomed the Bucs, as ETSU suffered a 2-0 Southern Conference loss in Greensboro, N.C.
Both ETSU and UNCG recorded 10 shots in the contest.
Redshirt sophomore Joao Ramalho (Monte Santo, Brazil) took eight of ETSU's 10 shot attempts, but the Bucs (5-6, 1-3) were unable to find the back of the net.
After heading into intermission knotted in a scoreless deadlock, the Bucs outshot UNCG, 5-3, in the second half; however, the Spartans (2-8-2, 2-1-1) converted two of their three shots for goals.
Dustin Gamradt and Christian Reingen scored 59th-minute and 77th-minute goals, respectively, to help UNCG seal its second SoCon win of the season.
In the setback, ETSU sophomores Thibault Civalier (Nice, France) and William Nordenstrom (Linkoping, Sweden) each recorded one shot.
The Bucs will host a pair of SoCon games next week, taking on Furman Tuesday, Oct. 14 and Wofford Saturday, Oct. 18, with both matches beginning at 7:00 p.m.
